Getting started in
… Galician
Spanish is the main
language spoken in Spain and it is official in all its territory. But, as you
may know, three other languages are spoken in our country, too. They are
Galician, Catalan and Basque. The former two derive from Latin; the latter
doesn’t. That is why you won’t have many problems in understanding lots of
words in Galician and Catalan if you can speak Spanish.
Galician is spoken in
Galicia, the northwestern part of Spain, and it is co-official there. If you want to find more information about
it, please click on this link.
Today we would like to let
you have a taste of it. Some of the art students of IES O Ribeiro worked on a
project for which they tried to express abstract concepts in works combining
images and words. Do they match each other well? What do you think?
Please, look at
the chart below and compare the words in the four languages.
